Over a 38-year academic career at Marquette University, Dr. William Donaldson has exemplified the teacher-scholar model. He and his co-workers have published over 120 research articles and have been awarded more than $2.25 million in external funding to support his academic research. He is the recipient of the 1995 Rev. John P. Raynor, S.J., Faculty Award for Teaching Excellence, and the 2021 Lawrence G. Haggerty Faculty Award for Research Excellence. Previously, he served as Associate Dean in the College of Arts and Sciences at Marquette University, where he oversaw faculty development, undergraduate recruitment, graduate programs, internal research funds and was College liaison with the University Marketing and Communications. In 2018, together with Dr. Karyn Frick (UWM) and Dr. Daniel Sem (Concordia University), he formed Estrigenix Therapeutics, Inc. (www.estrigenix.com), a start-up drug discovery company dedicated to improving women’s health. In May 2021, Donaldson retired from formal teaching at Marquette to dedicate his time to Estrigenix. Bill received his B.A. in Chemistry with honors from Wesleyan University and his Ph.D. from Dartmouth College.
